Our Commitment
to Sustainability
Our Approach
Our approach to sustainability is simple. Our key sustainable development goal is to improve gender equality in the communities we exist in, and empower women and girls by giving back towards meaningful female-related causes and investing in Asian-female led businesses or those that provide a positive impact to women.
We acknowledge that we have a long way to go in becoming a sustainable business and will strive to infuse a sustainable mindset throughout our various business functions.
Female For Future
At Love, Bonito, we are deeply committed to championing women in the workplace and beyond. Our dedication to gender equality is not just a statement but a practice embedded in our core values and daily operations.
According to UN Women, women hold only approximately 28% of managerial positions globally in 2023, a statistic that has been stagnant since 1995 (UN Women, 2023). We walk the talk with strong women representation in leadership, male-dominated industries and across the entire organisation.

As part of our social responsibility to the fashion industry, we also partner exclusively with suppliers that are compliant with industry standard social audits such as BSCI and SMETA. The partnership is guided by our Supplier Code of Conduct, which includes zero tolerance for forced and child labour,
maximum working hours and minimum living wages.
Furthermore, we invest capital, expertise and products to local communities across Southeast Asia.
Taking Care of our Planet
Sustainability is a journey, not a destination. We strive to create empowering clothing for the everyday Asian woman, with a responsibility to care for our planet in everything we do. Since then, we have started to tackle areas that have the biggest impact in communities we exist in.
Material Ethics
Protecting animals is a core part of our business operations. In our commitment to protect animal welfare and ensure ethical fashion, Love, Bonito does not accept real fur, leather, down or feathers, and other exotic skins from animal origin.
Clothing Production
With our assortment revamp in 2024, we have reduced the total number of new styles produced moving forward by 60%.
This translates into less samples produced in the development process and less carbon emissions in multiple deliveries.
Eco-certified Packaging
100% of Love, Bonito's paper bags are FSC-mix certified, which ensures that all materials used are responsibly managed. Our e-commerce mailers are also GRS-certified 100% recycled low-density polyethylene (LDPE), which means they are recyclable and helps in reducing single-use plastics.
High Mileage Pieces
Our apparel is thoughtfully designed for long-term wear with high quality fabrics, and versatile, functional designs suited for multiple occasions.
Fashion Circularity
We partner with local third-party circular fashion enterprises and non-government organisations to upcycle defect apparel and donate samples and aged inventory to communities we exist in.
Employee Engagement
In partnership with Cloop, a circular fashion enterprise, our employees in Headquarters have donated 87kg of clothes from February to June 2024, in support of closing the loop instead of throwing them away.
